Welcome and thanks for visiting Ranch Horsemanship. Our website is full of information that may be useful to you. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, ride western or English, it really does not matter. Good horsemanship is a necessity in all disciplines. You may never experience life on a ranch so maybe this will give you a small sampling of what it was like for me. I am so happy to be able to share some of the knowledge passed to me from family and friends. I believe it is important to give back what was given to a person and I hope you think that what was given to me will benefit you and your horse in some way. You may hear words that don't sound right; don't be too alarmed. Eastern Oregon Buckaroo (Vaquero) traditions run deep and the English version of the Spanish word can be confusing. For example, "cavy" is short for caviata which means a group of saddle horses. Rodero (not rodeo) is a group of cattle bunched in a corner for separating. Growing up on a large ranch with a large family was almost the best thing that ever happened to me. I learned so much from my Dad and siblings. It was as if each day challenged you in some different and unusual way. What a preparation for my life now! which, by the way, is really the best thing that has ever happened to me - my wife Nye and son Logan. I hope you enjoy what is here and have a blast with your horse. Yours truly, Ron Miller
